General Patten in Cheshire – A talk by Clive Brookes. Patten arrived in Cheshire in February 1944 to set up his headquarters at Peover Hall. He commanded 250,000 troops but only his own senior officers had any combat experience. He played a leading role in the deception plan to convince Hitler that the Allied invasion was going to take place at Calais and not Normandy. This is the story of trials, tribulations and brilliant teamwork.
